Drip irrigation with a windmill or 4" trash pump
Associtated Documents:
Question:
Is there anyone there that could answer questions I have about setting up a drip irrigation system for about an acre or two area? I have some 4" and 6"
trash pumps and a couple of water windmills coming that I'd like to know how they might be used for the drip irrigation.
I guess what I'm really looking for, is a design with BOQ for this type of system.
Response:
Hello,
What is a "BOQ"? Do you plan to use the wind mills to pump water into a
storage tank, the use the pumps to supply water to the drip irrigation
system. Do you have any info on these pumps, such as HP rating? Are these
electric pumps? Do you have any info on the size and technical specs on
the windmills? What do you pan on growing? Vegetables? Have you selected
or purchased the drip irrigation system? If so, do you have a total flow
rate or precipitation rate for the drip system?
GF
Thanks , I'll try to answer your questions,
BOQ means the bill of quantities or another way to say the materials needed
for the job.
I was thinking I'd have to pump the water into a storage tank from the
windmill. I would also look at setting up another drip irrigation system
with the 4" centrifugal diesel driven trash pump, 15.5 HP to irrigate about
one acre of vegetables at 8" to 12" spacing.
We have not selected a drip irrigation system and we would be open to
suggestions. I was reading on some web site that we should figure about 4gph
for each emitter if it's in sandy soil?
Sorry for my slow response.
Hope this helps,
Thanks

Have you taken a look at the wind- drip training materials? These may answer some of your questions. http://itc.tamu.edu/Iraq/
